On November 23, 2014, Bath State Police arrested Adam Hosmer, 26, of Avoca, for Felony Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC of .14% and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd. Hughes was traveling on State Route 415 in the Town of Avoca when he drifted off the shoulder striking a support pole and guide wire. His vehicle continued north through a field and into the Cohocton River and came to rest in the middle of the River.

On February 18, 2014, troopers from SP Binghamton arrested Emily A. Bixby, 31, of Norwich, NY for the class E felony of aggravated driving while intoxicated with a child.
