South Carolina: Spartanburg deputy injured when hit head-on by DUI driver Drako Nesbitt

Last night a Spartanburg County Sheriffs Deputy was involved in a serious vehicle accident on Highway 221 near S. Church St Ext. The Deputies vehicle was struck head-on by a suspected drunk driver, the suspect has been identified as Drako Nesbitt. The South Carolina Highway Patrol has charged Nesbitt with DUI, and several other charges. The Deputy suffered a light concussion, whiplash, and injuries from airbag deployment and is at home and resting. Nesbitt is currently in the Spartanburg County Sheriffs Office Detention Center awaiting bond.

East Coast: Six states join forces to nab speeders, DUI drivers and yahoos from U.S. 15 in Border-to-Border weekend

Six state police and highway patrol agencies this weekend will once again engage in Operation Border to Border, a coordinated traffic safety enforcement initiative targeting approximately 791 miles of U.S. Route 15, which originates in Waterboro, S.C., and ends in Corning, N.Y. The corridor is a heavily-traveled thoroughfare for summer vacationers and for those attempting to avoid congested interstates serving all six states.
