New York: State Police report DWI driver roundup for Aug. 26, 2014; Brian C. Reynolds leads the list!

Kirkwood, NY – August 22, 2014) On August 22, 2014, Troopers from SP Binghamton arrested William J. Kurtz, 56, of Binghamton, NY for Aggravated Driving While Intoxicated with a reportable BAC result of .19% and Unlawful Possession of Marihuana. The arrest resulted from a vehicle and traffic law stop for not having a working headlight while driving on Upper Court Street in Kirkwood, NY. An investigation determined that he was driving while intoxicated. When searched he was found to unlawfully possess approximately 1.6 grams of marihuana in a clothing pocket. Mr. Kurtz was issued tickets returnable to the Town of Kirkwood Court on September 9, 2014.

Florida: Columbia County Public Works Director Kevin Kirby was chauffered by county employees after DUI wreck; pleaded guilty

COLUMBIA COUNTY, FL – Just days away from jury selection and a full blown trial and a week after County Court Judge William F. Williams, III denied Mr. Kirby’s motions to dismiss the charges against him and suppress the testimony of one of the State’s key witnesses, Columbia County’s number two, Kevin Kirby, had a change of heart.

Tuesday afternoon at about 2:30 pm, in a hastily arranged court appearance, Mr. Kirby agreed to take the standard first time offender DUI plea agreement and pled guilty to driving under the influence. Mr. Kirby’s license remains suspended. He is on supervised probation.

Connecticut: Darien firefighter John Dowling ran his daily stop sign…that he says he runs every day…but this time he was DUI, say cops

DARIEN — John J. Dowling, 43, of 100 Hope St., Stamford, a volunteer Darien firefighter, was arrested Aug. 11 on charges of operating under the influence and failure to obey a stop sign.

An officer on patrol saw Dowling, who was driving a 2013 Jeep Wrangler, travel through a stop sign on Ledge Road at the entrance ramp to Interstate 95 south around 1 a.m., according to the report

Delaware: Participates in National Crackdown on Drunk Driving

Dover- According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), if drunk driving was eliminated more than 10,000 lives would be spared nationally each year. That is why the Delaware Office of Highway Safety (OHS) and law enforcement agencies are participating in the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” high-visibility enforcement campaign that is running from August 15 through September 1. There will be increased public awareness and enforcement to send the strong message that drunk driving will not be tolerated. The goal of the campaign is to remind motorists that drinking and driving is dangerous and will not be tolerated.
