The preliminarily investigation reveals the suspect, identified as 32-year-old Devonne Brooks of the 5600 Whitfield Chapel Road in Lanham, was driving a Toyota Camry northbound on Baltimore Avenue. Police Officer First Class Andrew Wallman was in his marked cruiser heading southbound on Baltimore Avenue. Investigators believe Brooks crossed into oncoming traffic to pass another driver and struck POFC Wallman’s cruiser head on.

Gryczan was jailed Friday on a charge of DUI with seriously bodily injury and reckless driving. West Palm Beach police arrested him on a separate DUI charge on April 3.

Meantime, Qaneak Cobb, 33, was arrested for DUI and narcotics, according to LAPD Valley Traffic Division officials

During the encounter, the accused became agitated and began to resist officers which led to a struggle. At one point, the accused kicked two of the officers.

The deputies then attempted to pull Nelson from the vehicle, but the suspect instead slammed the door shut and put the vehicle in drive, dragging Brown down the road at least 40 feet.

Brown tried to stop Nelson, striking him multiple times. The suspect spit blood on the deputy during the incident, the Sheriff’s Office said.
