East Coast: Six states join forces to nab speeders, DUI drivers and yahoos from U.S. 15 in Border-to-Border weekend
Six state police and highway patrol agencies this weekend will once again engage in Operation Border to Border, a coordinated traffic safety enforcement initiative targeting approximately 791 miles of U.S. Route 15, which originates in Waterboro, S.C., and ends in Corning, N.Y. The corridor is a heavily-traveled thoroughfare for summer vacationers and for those attempting to avoid congested interstates serving all six states.
Texas: Howe Police officers sidelined a tractor-trailer driver operating with booze and meds
06/05/2014 — On June 5th – at approx 1:00 am Howe Police Dept. Officers R. Todd and J. Clark were dispatched to a possible intoxicated driver on SB Hwy 75. A motorist reported a semi truck driving erratically. Officers located the vehicle on Hwy 75 near Hall Cemetery Rd and stopped it after observing it cross over the center lane divider.
California: Folsom Police arrest two men for buying booze for kids; 113 DUI arrests for Memorial Day
From 12:01 AM Friday, May 23, 2014 through Midnight Monday, May 26, 2014 officers representing 17 county law enforcement agencies made 113 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. In 2013, 104 DUI arrests occurred during the Memorial Day holiday weekend. No DUI related deaths have been reported this year. Last year there were no DUI deaths reported. If the adults purchase alcohol for the minor, officers then arrest and cite them for furnishing alcohol to the minor. The penalty for furnishing alcohol to a minor is a minimum $1000 fine and 24 hours of community service. The operation resulted in two arrests, Harrison Anderson (24) and James Ligon (53).
