Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Awarded DWI Enforcement Vehicle
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office has been recognized by the Missouri Department of Transportation and the Missouri Division of Highway Safety for its efforts in DWI education and enforcement in Lawrence County.

At this years LETSAC (Law Enforcement Traffic Safety Advisory Council) conference, the Sheriff’s Office was awarded a grant to purchase a vehicle to be used for DWI enforcement and education.  The award is for a total of $35,000 to purchase and fully equip a vehicle.

In order to be eligible for the award, an agency must participate in education efforts as well as participate in every DWI enforcement program offered by the state.  This includes holiday enforcements, saturation patrols, and DWI checkpoints.

The Sheriff’s Office is currently a member of the Southwest Missouri DWI Task Force and the Central Ozarks DWI Task Force.

Lawrence County hopes to have the vehicle in service by the end of 2015.
