MISSOURI: Jefferson County Prosecutor reports Holly Smith sentenced to 15 years in prison for death while DWI and killing motorcyclist before fleeing the scene

On October 24, 2023, Holly S. Smith pled guilty to DWI- Death of Another, not a Passenger (Class B) and Leaving Scene of an Accident – Resulting in Death (Class D). She was sentenced to 15 years and seven years in the Department of Corrections. On May 20, 2022, Smith struck James Meyer’s motorcycle while on West Outer Road in Arnold, MO, and then fled the scene. Witnesses could keep sight of Smith’s vehicle until law enforcement could stop her. This conviction was not only a product of great police work but also of caring citizens.

Missouri State Highway Patrol investigators determined both Meyer and Smith were traveling northbound on West Outer Road before the crash. At one point, Meyer began to slow down, and Smith crashed into the rear of Meyer’s motorcycle.
