California: Miguel Alfonso Benitez charged with being DUI – drugs when he rear-ended vehicle

 

RANCHO MIRAGE, CALIF.  — 07/05/2014— According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, on Thursday, July 3, 2014 at 10:54 AM officers from the Rancho Mirage Police Department responded to a traffic collision on Bob Hope Drive and Columbia Drive in the city of Rancho Mirage.

The investigation revealed that the driver of a tan 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser rear-ended another vehicle at the location.  The driver of the Toyota was identified as Miguel Alfonso Benitez, age 55 of Rancho Mirage.

Benitez was determined to be under the influence of drugs.

Benitez was arrested and booked into the jail located in the city of Indio for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.  Drug use was determined to be a factor in the collision.  No one was injured as a result of the collision.  The roadway remained open during the investigation.

The Rancho Mirage Police Department encourages all drivers not to drink and drive.
