State Police Investigating Single Vehicle Fatality West of Cheswold

Cheswold, DE– The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating a single vehicle crash that killed a Dover man.

The incident occurred around 12:10 a.m. this morning, Friday January 2, 2015, as Luis M. Burgos-Osorio, 26, of Dover, was operating a 2007 Pontiac G6 southbound on Brenford Road just north of Mt. Friendship Road.

As the Pontiac entered into a slight left curve, at an apparent high rate of speed, the vehicle drove into the northbound lane before the operator overcorrected and drove back across the southbound lane and off the west side of the roadway where the car struck a tree on the driver’s side door.  The car then rotated clockwise and struck a telephone pole with the rear of the vehicle before re-entering the roadway where it came to a stop in the center of the road.  Burgos-Osorio, who was properly restrained and the lone occupant, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is continuing their investigation into this incident.  Speed and alcohol may have been contributing factors in this case.  Brenford Road between Mt. Friendship Road and Moorton Road was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
