New York: Asya Ulmer charged with DUI manslaughter; killed Jennifer Alexis in BMW smash-up

2013-09-16 — According to the Nassau County, New York, Police, the Homicide Squad reports the details of an arrest for Vehicular Manslaughter that occurred in Rockville Centre on Sunday September15, 2013 at 5:50 am.

According to detectives, the defendant Asya Ulmer, 21, of 512 Clinton Avenue, Rockville Centre was operating a 2000 BMW northbound on N Center Avenue when she struck a parked tractor-trailer near Meehan Street.

The front passenger Jennifer Alexis, 21, of 204 24 46th Road, Bayside was pronounced at scene. The defendant was transported to South Nassau Community Hospital by the Rockville Center Fire Department and the Rockville Center Police Department for a complaint of pain. Ulmer was placed under arrest for Driving under the Influence of Alcohol. The Investigation is ongoing.

Police say the defendant is charged with Vehicular Manslaughter 2ndDegree and Driving While Under the Influence. She will be arraigned on Monday, September 16, 2013 at First District Court in Hempstead.
