New York: State Police provided some of those who celebrated St. Patrick’s Day a stay in the slammer

The New York State Police report that starting on Friday March 15 through Sunday March 17, 2013, Troopers participated in various traffic enforcement details aimed at preventing needless tragedies caused by impaired driving. They targeted speed, aggressive and distracted driving.
Drivers were met by sobriety checkpoints and additional DWI patrols. Bars and retail establishments were also observed for underage drinking and sales to minors.
Troopers from Troop A, during the St Patrick’s Day weekend issued:

567 total tickets, highlighted by:
166 for speeding
15 DWI
15 for cellular phone use/texting and
45 for unlicensed operator/suspended

The National Highway Safety Administration reports that more than 700 people were killed nationwide in crashes involving drunk drivers during the St. Patrick’s Day holiday from 2006 to 2010.
On average, every 51 minutes a person is killed in a drunk-driving related crash in the United States and the majority of these crashes involve drivers who have blood alcohol concentrations almost twice the legal limit of .08 percent.

(Sherburne, NY – March 18, 2013) On March 17, 2013, State Police at SP Norwich report that they arrested Debra L. Trudeau, 53 of Hubbardsville, New York for Driving While Intoxicated with a BAC result of .10%. The arrest resulted from a traffic stop on State Route 12 in the Town of Sherburne, NY. Ms. Trudeau was issued Tickets returnable to the Town of Sherburne Court on March 22, 2013.
Paul Berry charged with underage sales at Denny’s Mountain View Restaurant
(Preble, NY – March 18, 2013) On March 15, 2013, Troopers at SP Homer arrested Paul Berry, 62, of Tully, NY for Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage in violation of section 65A of the Alcohol Beverage and Control Law. The arrest stemmed from Mr. Berry selling an alcoholic beverage to a subject under the age of 21 while working as a bartender at the Denny’s Mountain View Restaurant on State Route 281, Preble, NY. Mr. Berry was issued an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Preble Court on April 09, 2013.

 New York State Police report DWI arrest of Brayman L. Harris

On March 18, 2013, the New York State Police arrested Brayman L. Harris, 29 of Rochester for driving while intoxicated.
Harris was arrested subsequent to a traffic stop for moving from a lane unsafely on 390 in the Town of Gates.
During the interview a strong alcoholic odor was detected.
Mr. Harris failed roadside field sobriety tests and was transported to SP Rochester for processing.
He refused to provide a breath sample and he is to appear in Town of Gates Court to answer to all charges at a later date.

 State Police arrest Denise E. Gun for DWI on St. Patrick’s Day cruise on interstate
On March 17, 2013, Denise E. Gun, 20, of Millersville, Maryland was arrested for driving while intoxicated.
State Police stopped Gun on Interstate 490 for driving over hazard markings and moving from a lane unsafely.
Gun admitted to drinking and had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath.
She failed roadside field sobriety tests and was arrested for DWI.
Ms. Gun was transported to SP Rochester for processing.
A breath test was administered resulting in a BAC of .14%.
She is to answer to the charges in city court at a later date.

Hit and Run report results in DWI arrest of Robert J. Pixley
New York State Police report that on March 16, 2013 on North Goodman St. in the city of Rochester , Tpr. Jason Klewicki out of the SP Rochester Barracks while on patrol
observed a vehicle that matched the description of a suspect involved in a hit and run earlier. Subsequent interview of the operator confirmed that the vehicle was involved in a hit and run. The operator, Robert J. Pixley, 54 of rochester had a strong odor of alcohol coming from him and a pre-screen test provided a .10% result .Mr. Pixley was taken into custody and transported to the State Police Rochester barracks where he was charged with leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident and other charges. He is due in city court at a later date and time.
Chelsea Gelo charged with DWI – Hit and Run
On March 16, 2013 Tpr. Eric Salamone was investigating a 2 car pdaa hit and run when he observed the suspect vehicle northbound on Goodman St. in the city. He stopped the vehicle and interviewed the back seat passenger , Chelsea Gelo, 21 of the city , who advised the trooper that she had struck a vehicle and left the scene on Pearl St. She then admitted to having switched drivers of her vehicle . Ms. Gelo had a odor of alcohol coming from her and was given roadside field sobriety test’s which she failed and was transported to SP Rochester where she provided a breath sample with a reportable BAC of .18%. She will answer to charges against her at
a later date , investigation is continuing.
Bruce A. Adams charged with DWI on St. Patrick’s Day
On March 17, 2013 at 12:35am on Maple St. in the town of Victor, Tpr. David J. Flanigen while on patrol observed a vehicle driving erratically and going over the double yellow lines. After stopping the vehicle , the operator identified as Bruce A. Adams, 37 of Shortsville, NY had a very strong odor of alcohol coming from him. He was asked to perform field sobriety test’s and refused. Mr. Adams was placed under arrest for Felony DWI and transported to SP Canandaigua for processing where he again refused any and all test’s. He was committed to Ontario County Jail for pre-arraignment detention.
Michael L. Schnupp charged with DWI
On March 16, 2013 on interstate 490 eastbound in the city of Rochester, Tpr. Michael Mault while on patrol observed a vehicle drive into the center lane and then swerve into the left lane. After stopping the vehicle and during the interview of the driver , Michael L. Schnupp ,45 of Fairport a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was coming from him. Schnupp failed roadside field sobriety test’s and admitted to having a small plastic bag of marijuana in the center console of his vehicle and a bag in his front jean pocket. He was then placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated and possession of marijuana and transported to SP Rochester where he provided a breath sample with a BAC of .12%. He is to appear in city court at a later date.
