Date: Tuesday, March 24, 2014, 11:47 pm Location: 4739 S. Alameda Offense: Assault (Penal Code 22.01 A Mis), DWI (PC 19.04 B Mis) Evading Arrest with a Vehicle (PC 38.04 3rd Degree Felony) Case Number: 1403250004

Corpus Christi Police report that Officers responded to a fight at the Keg Room.  The suspect, Eric Rollins (7-17-65), took exception to being cut off by the bartender.  He brandished a pool stick and another customer attempted to stop him and took the pool stick from him.  Rollins then grabbed a cue ball and threw it, hitting the 52-year-old male victim in the mouth, causing minor injury.  Officers arrived to find Rollins locked in the driver’s seat of his truck.
He refused to turn the vehicle off and after several seconds, stomped on the gas and fled onto Alameda. An officer was arriving at that time and attempted to stop the suspect.  Rollins fled at a high rate of speed while the officer turned around, Rollins then made a u-turn on Alameda, swerved into the Cape streets, and was lost by officers before they got into the neighborhood.  Dispatch checked the address on the license plate and informed Officers that the address was off of the 400 block of Cape Lookout.
The truck was located in the driveway of the home.  Contact was made with the suspect’s wife, who reported him passed out in the back yard.  Rollins was contacted and positively identified by officers from the initial contact at the bar.  He was arrested for both evading arrest and DWI.
A blood draw was done after a warrant was secured. He was booked into the City Detention Center.
