Chelse Renee Dorman, 33, of Chipley, was sentenced Friday to 13.5 years in prison followed by five years of probation. She was arrested in April after veering into oncoming traffic on State 77 and crashing head-on with another vehicle, killing the driver and seriously injuring his passenger. Dorman’s blood-alcohol content at the time of the crash was 0.269, more than three times the legal limit of 0.08, lab results later showed.

Dorman pleaded no contest in November to DUI manslaughter and DUI causing serious bodily injury and was sentenced Friday. She also will never hold a license again after serving out her sentence.

The charges arose from a crash shortly after midnight April 8 on State 77 just north of Woodland Road in the Sand Hills community. Cory Harrison, 26, of Panama City, was pronounced dead at the scene and his passenger, 22-year-old Chelsea Jordan, was rushed to the hospital afterward with serious injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol reported Dorman was driving northbound in the inside lane of State 77 in a 2016 Chevy Silverado moments before the crash. Harrison was traveling southbound in the inside travel lane in a 2000 Chevy truck. Dorman crossed into the oncoming traffic lane and crashed head-on into Harrison.   MORE
