Missouri: Matthew Brannon changes his tune just before trial; now he pleads guilty to killing nurse while he was driving drunk

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — A man from Springfield pleaded guilty on Thursday to first-degree involuntary manslaughter for the death of a woman in a two-vehicle crash 18 months ago. The plea occurred just before the scheduled beginning of the trial for Matthew Brannon, 32.
Brannon was driving a vehicle that crashed on Oct. 16, 2010, at the intersection of Mount Vernon Street at Kansas Expressway. The crash killed Kathryn Wells, 55, of Springfield. She was a hospice nurse and a former Nurse of the Year.
Brannon’s car collided with Wells’ vehicle. Wells’ car hit a light pole and burst into flames. …MORE
