California: Rachel Lynn Walbye charged with DUI manslaughter after crashing, killing David Rivera who was in wheelchair

HESPERIA • A suspected drunken driver veered off the roadway, late Tuesday, striking a power pole and flipping a man in a motorized wheelchair, killing him, officials said.
David Rivera, 40, of Victorville, was traveling north on Seventh Avenue near the Manzanita Street intersection in Hesperia about 9:53 p.m. when he was struck by a Jeep approaching from behind, coroner’s and sheriff’s San Bernardino County Sheriff’s officials said.
Paramedics pronounced Rivera dead at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, Rachel Lynn Walbye, 23, of Victorville, was treated for minor injuries and arrested on suspicion of gross
vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated, officials said. She was taken to West Valley Detention Center and her bail is set at $250,000, according to jail records.
