Maryland State Police Impaired Driving Effort

DUI/ Drug Arrest– On Wednesday, July 2, 2014 at 5:58 am, Tpr. M. Johnson initiated a traffic stop on a silver passenger car for a minor traffic infraction.  Tpr. Johnson asked the driver, Mitch Anthony Wathen, 28, of Mechanicsville, to perform Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.

While performing the tests, Tpr. Johnson was advised that Mr. Wathen had an active warrant through Charles County.  He was placed under arrest and CDS was located in his pocket.

Wathen was transported the Maryland State Police Leonardtown Barrack to finish Field Sobriety Testing.  He was then transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center where he was charged with Driving under the Influence of Alcohol, CDS: Not Marijuana, Possession of CDS Paraphernalia, Removing the Label from a Prescription Bottle, and other traffic related offenses.  He was held pending extradition to Charles County.
