WEST PALM BEACH — None of the people chatting amongst themselves during a court break seemed to notice the tears falling down Andrew Rutman’s cheeks. A few drops snagged in his full, white beard as he sat alone, quiet, still.
He watched 28-year-old Kenneth Richard Jenkins hug his friends and family goodbye, knowing he was headed to prison for getting drunk and causing the March 2008 wrong-way crash that killed three people, including Rutman’s 83-year-old father Robert.
Rutman felt a flood of emotions, he said. He missed his dad. He felt a twinge of sympathy for Jenkins.
