A Jonesboro city councilman was booked into Clayton County jail Wednesday night after he allegedly drove drunk and crashed his pickup truck into a mailbox.
Councilman Joe Compton had nothing to say to Channel 2 Action News as it filmed him being led away in handcuffs.
Compton was arrested after the incident, in which a brick mailbox was knocked off its base a few doors away from his home on Arnold Place, and his truck — with “Joe Compton city councilman” signs on it — sustained a banged-up fender and a flat tire.
