ROCKFORD (WREX) – UPDATE 3:
Rockford police have arrested 46-year-old George White of Rockford in Tuesday morning’s fatal crash at Y Blvd. and North 2nd Street.

David Logterman, killed by George White who was suspended for prior DUI convictions. White fled the scene and was later caught.

Police say White was driving a white Chevrolet Impala, which lost control while merging onto N. 2nd from Longwood, went airborne, and landed on top of a Chevrolet S10 pickup, killing the truck’s driver, 57-year-old David Logterman of Rockford. Winnebago County Coroner Sue Fiduccia reports an autopsy showed Logterman died as a result of chest injuries sustained in the crash.

According to a release by the Rockford Police Department, White then ran from the scene, but was apprehended a short distance away. He has been charged with: Aggravated Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol/Drugs, Leaving the Scene of a Traffic Crash Involving Death, Aggravated Driving After Revocation
