Massachusetts: Robert Grenier pleads not guilty in DUI death of Patricia Gurka; attempted to pin blame on wreck on his dead passenger

WORCESTER — A North Smithfield man charged with manslaughter after an alleged drunk driving accident claimed the life of his girlfriend pleaded not guilty and was ordered held on $200,000 cash bail.
Robert Grenier, 47, was arraigned in Worcester Superior Court Tuesday on charges stemming from an Aug. 11 accident in Douglas, Mass.
Grenier told police that he and girlfriend Patricia Gurka., 47, also of North Smithfield, were traveling home from a concert at Indian Ranch in Webster before their car flipped over. Gurka, a registered nurse and mother of four, was ejected and fatally injured in the crash.
Grenier pleaded not guilty to manslaughter, manslaughter by motor vehicle, motor vehicle homicide while driving negligently, motor vehicle homicide while driving under the influence of alcohol, motor vehicle homicide while driving negligently and under the influence of alcohol, driving so as to endanger, driving after license suspension, driving after license suspension for driving while under the influence of alcohol, driving after suspension of his license for driving under the influence of alcohol while under the influence of alcohol, and attempting to commit a crime (to mislead police.)
