Nebraska: jury finds Samuel Corbitt guilty of killing Amanda Meyers while he was twice the legal limit and crashed into her car

A jury convicted an Omaha man for the devastating September 2010 crash that killed Amanda Meyers — rejecting his arguments that it was his teenage victim’s fault.
Samuel Corbitt, 36, was convicted of motor vehicle homicide. He faces up to 50 years in prison.
Jurors deliberated three hours before reaching the verdict Friday afternoon.
Corbitt was driving 57 mph in a 35 mph zone and had a blood-alcohol content of .21 — more than twice the legal limit of .08 — when he crashed into a car driven by 18-year-old Amanda Meyers. The crash also critically injured the passenger in Meyers’ car, Lindsay Schiling. ….MORE
