Hampton Public Works Director and Exeter resident Keith Noyes is facing a driving while intoxicated charge after Exeter police pulled him over late Friday night.
Noyes, 57, who became Hampton’s public works director in mid-2011 after years serving in the same capacity in Exeter, was arrested for DWI at 11:32 p.m. on Nov. 23, according to an Exeter Police Department arrest log.
In an interview with Hampton-North Hampton Patch on Wednesday afternoon, Noyes denied he was drinking and offered a short explanation of the events, declining to speak at length about the arrest because he didn’t “want to get into details.
“I was stopped while driving after I had taken a prescription medication,” said Noyes.

Noyes said he couldn’t “get into” what kind of medication he was on because it’s a “personal” matter, although he said it’s his understanding that he faces a count of driving under the influence, not DWI.
Exeter Police Chief Richard Kane told Exeter Patch that Noyes was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle violation on Portsmouth Avenue in Exeter. Officer Justin Ranauro was the arresting officer, said Kane.
Kane said his department is still investigating the identity of the substance on which Noyes was allegedly intoxicated.  ….MORE
