North Carolina: troopers set up checkpoint after drunk crashed on I-85

GASTONIA, N.C. —
Troopers doubled their enforcement along a specific stretch of Interstate 85 in Gaston County on Monday.
Police said a man crashed on I-85 while driving drunk early Monday.
Gastonia police said it has been an eventful Fourth of July on I-85. “It’s probably at least twice as busy as it normally is,” said Sgt. Jeff Clark of the Gastonia Police Department.
Police said they are seeing some drivers trying to go fast. One driver was clocked at 114 mph in a 60 mph zone on Monday.

“It appears there are some aggressive drivers out there today,” Clark said. 
 Motorcyclist Michael Steele passed the line of blue lights Monday afternoon. “It’s a good presence. Good to have them. (They) keep us safe,” he said.   …..MORE
