Tennessee’s Alcoholic Beverage Commission will investigate whether a suspect accused of being drunk when she drove the wrong way on Interstate 65 and ended up killing another motorist was over-served before taking the wheel.
Police said Rebecca Benson, 22, acknowledged drinking before the crash at about 4 a.m. Feb. 23, in which Steffanie Leonard, 29, of Franklin was killed.
An arrest warrant states Benson was so impaired that she thought she was in a taxicab instead of the 2006 Lexus RX 330 that went the wrong way on I-65 and crashed into Leonard’s 2000 Chevrolet Ventura van. Benson was charged with vehicular homicide.
The Metro Police Department is seeking information about Benson’s activities before the collision. ….MORE
