VIRGINIA BEACH – A Virginia Beach woman faces multiple charges after her truck slammed into a father and three children while they waited for the school bus on Chester Street.
43-year-old Sandra L. Hofstadler has been charged with DUI-second offense, reckless passing of a school bus and three charges of maiming as a result of driving while intoxicated.
The bus was heading to Lynnhaven Elementary School and was stopped on Paladin Drive and Chester St and had its gate out and lights on.
Hofstadler’s blue truck went through a 4-way intersection without stopping, heading eastbound on Chester Street.
Witnesses say Hofstadler went though the yard and hit the father and kids.
One child was flown by Nightingale to Sentara Norfolk then transferred to CHKD. That child is now being treated for bleeding on the brain according to the father’s brother-in-law.
