WAUTOMA – A 19-year-old Berlin man faces more than 100 years behind bars in connection with two crashes over Labor Day weekend that left a teenager dead and several more wounded following a night of heavy drinking, according to charges filed in Waushara County Circuit Court.
Max Winkel, 19, is accused of crashing his truck into the rear of the car in which Devlin Klein, 18, of Poy Sippi, was a passenger. Klein died at the scene of the early morning crash on Sept. 4. Winkel faces seven felony and two misdemeanor charges, the most serious homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle. Charges were filed in late December following a three-month investigation, including a DNA analysis and a crash reconstruction to help determine who was driving at the time of the crash. ….MORE
