According to La Quinta Police on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at 10:29 P.M. the La Quinta Police Department responded to the area of Washington Street and Avenue 50 regarding a DUI /non-injury traffic collision.

A gray BMW was traveling southbound on Washington Street when it veered off the roadway and collided with a wall.  The driver and sole occupant, Christopher Chmielak, age 38 of La Quinta, was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol/and or drugs and taken to a local area hospital as a precaution prior to being booked into the county jail in Indio.
