California: driver who ended up between a rock wall and a hard place charged with DUI

The Riverside County Sheriff reports that on Sunday, June 12, 2011, at about 6:50 AM, officers from the Lake Elsinore Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle traffic collision at the intersection of Lake Street and Lakeshore Drive in the city of Lake Elsinore.
Upon arrival, officers observed a white Ford F150 truck wedged between a block wall and a utility pole on the sidewalk. As a result of their investigation it was determined that the driver, (sole occupant) of the truck was traveling north on Lakeshore Drive and attempted to make a right turn (east) onto Lake Street. The driver lost control of the vehicle, hit the center divider and damaged a roadway sign. The vehicle continued across the westbound lanes of traffic of Lake Street and came to rest on the sidewalk and wedged between a block retaining wall at the Terra Cotta Middle School and a utility pole.
The driver was identified as Saul Pena Preciado, Hispanic male, 21 years old of Lake Elsinore. Preciado received minor injuries as a result of the collision and was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center for treatment.
As a result of the investigation, Preciado was arrested for driving under the influence and was booked into the Southwest Detention Center.
Southern California Edison responded to the scene to inspect the condition of the pole and determined no immediate repairs were needed. There was no power loss as a result of this incident.
