California: Lonnie Haynes charged with killing two in DUI double-header; Jared Roberts & Quani Pulley dead

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — Two passengers are dead and two more are injured after a drunk driver rolled a car when trying to take the California Avenue exit of Highway 99 early Sunday morning, California Highway Patrol officials said.
CHP officials said that Lonnie Haynes, 26, of Bakersfield, was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry north on SR-99 at a high-rate of speed. A 23-year-old man and two little boys – 4 and 5 years old – were also inside the vehicle.
Haynes was driving fast when he tried to take the California Avenue exit into Bakersfield. He failed to negotiate the corner, sending the Camry into a roll before coming to a stop on its hood.
The children were not wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. The 5-year-old sustained major injuries in the crash and was taken to Valley Children’s Hospital. The 4-year-old, Quani Pulley, was thrown from the vehicle and died at the scene.
