Lake of the Ozarks, Mo. (July 7, 2011) — Driving while intoxicated arrests at the Lake of the Ozarks over the Fourth of July weekend declined in 2011 when compared to 2010. Boating while intoxicated arrest totals also dropped.
Over a four-day period from Friday to Monday, The Missouri State Highway Patrol made 11 DWI arrests in Camden, Miller and Morgan counties. In 2010, troopers arrested 20 drivers over the same holiday weekend.
On the water, 18 of 33 BWI arrests in Missouri happened on Lake of the Ozarks. There were no fatal boating accidents or drownings on the lake.
In 2010, Water Patrol Division officers arrested 22 people for BWI, and in 2009 they arrested 25.
The Camden County Sheriff’s Office made three DWI arrests and four drug arrests over the holiday period. One of the drug arrests was for possession of K2, a synthesized marijuana-like substance banned under Missouri law. ….MORE
