Missouri: while party goers are shooting shots and beer, the Judge and Prosecutor will be drinking coffee and staying up late to order BAC taken

CARTHAGE, Mo. —Drivers suspected of driving while intoxicated and stopped over this weekend won’t be able to refuse a blood alcohol test.
The Jasper County Prosecutor’s Office and Judge Joe Schoeberl will stay up late and be available to approve search warrants immediately in the field late into the early morning hours on Friday night and Saturday morning, then again Saturday night and Sunday morning.
Jasper County Prosecutor Dean Dankelson said this means if a driver refuses a breath test, an officer will be able to call the prosecutor and judge immediately and get a warrant to collect blood from the driver for testing.
“This is the first time we’ve done this and had a judge available immediately,” Dankelson said. “We’ll try it out this weekend and if it works, we might do it again. I plan to work on Friday and well be available to law officers from 9 p.m. Friday to 3 a.m. Saturday.
Jasper County is currently participating in the “You Drink & Drive. You Lose” campaign.   ….MORE
