LAS CRUCES – A man dubbed the “poster child for DUI” by a District Court judge after his 11th conviction for driving under the influence has been indicted on a 12th drunken driving charge.
Anthony Michael Sierra isn’t even legally allowed to have car keys – for any reason – after his last conviction, in 2008, for which Las Cruces District Judge Michael Murphy gave him the maximum three-year sentence, with five years’ probation. Sentencing in that case had to be postponed after Sierra arrived at court still intoxicated from drinking at his grandfather’s 100th birthday party the night before.
Sierra, 37, of Santa Clara, N.M., allegedly crashed into another car while driving drunk on March 15, according to court documents. A Do a Ana County grand jury formally charged him Thursday with aggravated drunken driving, careless driving, driving with a suspended license and no insurance…..MORE
