NEW YORK: State Police report DWI alcohol and drug-related arrests

On April 5, 2023, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested Robert C. Lang., 47, of Depew, NY, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs and Criminal Trespass 2nd.

Troopers responded to a suspicious vehicle on Crittenden in the town of Newstead. During the interview with operator Lang, he was exhibiting signs of impairment. Troopers determined Lang had been operating a vehicle while in an impaired condition. Lang had failed standardized field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to State Police at Clarence, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) from the New York State Police. Lang was released with appearance tickets for the town of Newstead court, where he is due to appear at a later date.

Jason W. Wojcik took breath test and came up snookered

On April 4, 2023, Troopers out of SP Boston arrested Jason W. Wojcik., 51, of Chaffee, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated.

During a traffic stop on State Route 16 in the town of Holland, Wojcik was exhibiting signs of impairment. Troopers determined Wojcik had been operating a vehicle while in an impaired condition. Wojcik had failed standardized field sobriety tests. He was arrested and transported to SP Elma, where a chemical breath test revealed a 0.10% BAC. Wojcik was released with appearance tickets for the town of Holland court, where he is due to appear at a later date.

Guy Lambert failed field sobriety tests, refused to test his breath

On April 4, 2023, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested Guy J. Lambert., 60, of Grand Island, NY, for Driving While Intoxicated.

During a traffic stop on Interstate 290 in the town of Tonawanda, Lambert was exhibiting signs of impairment. Troopers determined Lambert had been operating a vehicle while in an impaired condition. Lambert had failed standardized field sobriety tests. He was arrested, transported, and processed at SP Buffalo, where he refused to submit a chemical test. Lambert was released with appearance tickets for the town of Tonawanda court, where he is due to appear at a later date.

Hema P Arany ran red light and was noticed by a trooper

On April 1, 2023, Troopers out of SP Clarence arrested Hema P. Arany, 45, of Amherst, NY, for driving while intoxicated, failure to stop at a red light, and failure to move over for an Officer.

On April 1, 2023, Troopers stopped Arany on Transit Rd. in the town of Clarence for not moving over for police and going through a red light. Arany was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests and transported to the New York State Police at Clarence for processing. Arany recorded a .12% BAC.

Arany was issued traffic tickets returnable to the town of Clarence Court for April 27, 2023.

Angelo J Paul arrested for DWAI-Drugs after Ashford crash

On March 25, 2023, State Police Machias Troopers arrested Angelo J. Paul, 24, of Springville, NY, for Driving While Ability Impaired by Drugs.

Troopers investigating a two-vehicle accident State Routes 240 in the town of Ashford observed Paul exhibiting obvious signs of impairment and determined he had been operating a motor vehicle while in an impaired condition. He failed standardized field sobriety tests at the scene. Paul was arrested and transported to SP Machias, where a chemical breath test revealed him to have a 0.04% BAC. A Drug Recognition Expert evaluation also confirmed Paul to be impaired by drugs.

Paul was released with appearance tickets for Ashford Town Court, where he is due to appear in April.

Chen chugged along at about twice the legal limit.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Troopers out of the New York State Police Clarence arrested Ke F. Chen, 36, of Amherst, for driving while intoxicated, speeding, moving from lane unsafely, and failing to signal.

On Tuesday, March 28, 2023, Troopers stopped Chen on Transit Rd. in the town of Clarence for speeding. Chen was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests and transported to State Police Clarence for processing. Chen recorded a .15% BAC.

Chen was issued traffic tickets returnable to the town of Clarence Court for April 2023.

Two clerks charged with selling alcohol to minors

On March 28, 2023, the New York State Police conducted an Underage Drinking Initiative in Allegany County, which resulted in the arrests of Mackenzie A. Jordan, 22, of Alfred, NY, and Sophia J. Carretto, 21, of Canisteo, NY for the Prohibited Sale of an Alcoholic Beverage to a Minor.

Jordan was arrested after making a sale of alcohol to a person under the age of twenty-one at Gentleman Jims LLC in the village of Alfred. Carretto was arrested after making a sale of alcohol to a person under the age of twenty-one at SOS Liquor and Wines in the village of Alfred.

Both Jordan and Carretto were issued appearance tickets returnable to Alfred Village Court at a later date in April of 2023.
