Pennsylvania: Judge rules case will go to trial; man charged with killing his girlfriend in Super Bowl Sunday crash

PITTSBURGH —
A man accused of killing his girlfriend on Super Bowl Sunday while driving under the influence in Ross Township appeared in court on Friday.
Brett Saltrick, 21, arrived at Pittsburgh municipal court with his parents by his side. During the hearing, three witnesses took the stand. Saltrick’s attorney said the accident has destroyed two families.
Saltrick was charged with homicide by vehicle while under the influence, driving under the influence and involuntary manslaughter. Police said Saltrick’s girlfriend, Bryanna Riedel, 21, was killed in the accident. She was a Duquesne University pharmacy student.
“They are starting therapy for him. This was his girlfriend of three and a half years. He is having a very difficult time. He is guilt-ridden. He feels horrible for the family of his girlfriend,” said defense attorney Robert Stewart.  ….MORE
