Sept. 22, 2012 — A horrific crash on Highway 17 Business between Highway 544 and the front gate of the Myrtle Beach Air Force Base killed at least one person.
It happened about 1:20 p.m. across from Pirateland Campground in the southbound lane of 17 Business.
South Carolina Highway Patrol says a Jeep heading north crossed the grass median and hit a van that was going south head-on.
There were six people in the van. One of the passengers was killed. That person’s name has not been released pending notification of the family.
The other five were taken to the hospital.
The driver of the Jeep, Jordy Wayne Calhoun, 18, of Conway was also taken to the hospital and then to J. Reuben Long Detention Center where he’s charged with two counts of Felony DUIÂ ….MORE
