Washington: State Patrol reports Spencer Allen charged with DUI Homicide for killing a woman in a vehicle he hit head-on when passing on Rt. 109

10/01/2017 — The Washington State Patrol reports that a driver who has been charged with DUI homicide crashed head-on into another vehicle as he passed when it was unsafe to do and killed one person.

Police say that Spencer J. Allen, 30, of Belfair, Washington, was operating a silver 1998 BMW at 9:40 pm on Sept. 30, 2017, northbound on State Route 109 at milepost 3.5 in Grays Harbor County when he decided to pass another vehicle when it was unsafe to do so and struck head-on a 2002 Dodge Neon operated by Brian A. Jasper, 29, of Aberdeen, Washington.

The vehicle that Spencer Allen passed was not involved in the crash, say police.

Allen’s BMW was in the southbound lane when it hit Jasper’s northbound Dodge and came to rest on its side on the left side of the roadway. The Dodge ended up in the middle of Rt. 109 and the highway was blocked for more than six hours, report police.

Guenevere G. Fletcher, 30, of Tacoma, Washington, a passenger in the Dodge was injured and flown to Harborview Medical Center while Jasper was taken to Community Hospital.

A 31-year-old female passenger who was also in the Dodge was killed and police have not yet identified her. The family of the children in the Dodge who were injured has requested police not to release their names or residence. The children were reported to be a girl, six years old, and a boy, twelve years of age and both were injured and taken to a hospital.

Police say that Allen will be charged with DUI homicide.
