WHERE IS SHE NOW? Still cooling her heels in jail awaiting trial on open charges, some are dropped

(Feb. 14, 2018) A wrong-way driver on Interstate 5 collided Wednesday morning with another car near the Tehama and Shasta County line, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 6 a.m. near Bowman Road, the CHP said.
According to the CHP, a 2006 Honda Accord driven by Andrea Lee Bates, 38, of McKinleyville was driving the wrong way on I-5 at around 100 mph after getting onto the northbound offramp from Balls Ferry Road.
She was southbound in the northbound I-5 lanes when she crashed into a northbound 2004 Hyundai Tiburon driven by Megan McLaughlin, 33, of Cottonwood, north of Bowman Road.
McLaughlin suffered a broken leg and was taken to Mercy Medical Center in Redding, the CHP said.
Bates reportedly ran away with her dog into a field where she was caught, the CHP said. The dog was taken by animal control authorities.
Bates was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and hit-and-run, the CHP said. She complained of pain to her nose and knees and was taken to St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff.
She was later medically cleared and booked into Tehama County Jail in Red Bluff, the CHP said. MORE
