According to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, September 23rd, 2013 at about 12:30 AM, officers from the Rancho Mirage Police Department responded to a single vehicle non-injury traffic collision near the intersection of Dinah Shore Drive and Key Largo Avenue.
The driver of a Silver Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Dinah Shore Drive. The driver was texting while driving, and struck the center median. This caused the vehicle to travel over the curb, and come to rest inside the sandy median. The driver was contacted, and displayed objective symptoms of intoxication. Field sobriety tests were administered, and refused. Sandra Santoyo Hernandez, age 31 of Cathedral City, CA was arrested and booked into the Riverside County Jail in the city of Indio for driving while under the influence of alcohol.
The Palm Desert Police and the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department would like to caution all motorists to never drink and drive. All drivers are encouraged to immediately call 9-1-1 if they see a suspected drunk driver on the roadway.
Palm tree jumped in front of driver
On Sunday, September 22, 2013, at 7:10 AM, Rancho Mirage Police officers responded to a traffic collision in the area of the 71000 block of Hwy 111, Rancho Mirage. The single-vehicle collision involved a 1998 black GMC truck, which drove over the center median of southbound lanes and collided into a palm tree. The driver was uninjured and no other parties were involved.
- Jose Jimenez, age 25 of Palm Springs was identified as the driver and was arrested at the scene for suspicion of DUI. Jimenez was booked into the jail located in the City of Indio.
It is believed that alcohol consumption was a factor in this collision.

Caudillo smashed and vamoosed but witness tracked him for the cops; DUI charged
On Saturday, September 21, 2013, at approximately 10:45 P.M., officers from the Coachella Police Department responded to a report of a hit and run traffic collision in the 84000 block of Paseo Laredo, Coachella. Investigation revealed that a GMC truck was traveling down the street when it collided into a parked vehicle. The force of the impact caused the parked vehicle to collide with a second parked vehicle. The driver later identified as Rene Rodriguez Caudillo, 29 years old of Coachella fled the location. A witness to the collision followed Caudillo to the area of Van Buren and Avenue 52, where Caudillo stopped.
Deputies arrived on scene and determined Caudillo showed symptoms of being under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and/or drugs. Caudillo was arrested for driving while under the influence. He was not charged with the hit and run as the victim refused prosecution. Caudillo was uninjured during the collision, but was transported to JFK Hospital as a precaution. He was then booked into the Riverside County jail in Indio for driving while impaired with alcohol and/or drugs.
