San Diego County Sheriff’s Department Arrest of Todd Zalkan Following 110 mph Chase
Sergeant Kristin Brayman reports that on March 23, 2017, at about 10:52 p.m., San Deigo Sheriff’s deputies conducted a traffic enforcement stop for a vehicle that ran a red light at West Hills and Mission Gorge Road in Santee.
The vehicle initially yielded, but once contact of the driver was made, the vehicle took off and a traffic pursuit ensued. The vehicle was occupied by a male driver with a dog inside the vehicle.
The pursuit lasted approximately 20 minutes before a tire deflation device was used by the San Diego Police Department which ultimately slowed the vehicle down; ending the pursuit at Clairemont Mesa Boulevard and Via Vallarta in the city of San Diego.
The driver, Todd Zalkan, was taken into custody without incident. He was arrested for driving under the influence, felony reckless evading and driving with a suspended license. No one was injured during the pursuit and there was no property damage.
