Lakeport Police reports that on Friday, March 11, 2016, at about 12:20 am, a Lakeport Police Officer observed a gray Chrysler pass by his location on Main Street at D Street heading northbound.

The officer recognized the driver as Justin Douglas Braider, 52, of Kelseyville, California and knew him to have a suspended driver’s license from a prior driving while under the influence (DUI). As the officer pulled behind Braider’s vehicle, the officer noted the vehicle was drifting within the lane and nearly crossing over the center divider when making two separate turns. Having observed signs of impaired driving, the officer conducted a vehicle stop at N. Forbes Street and Third Street.

While speaking to Braider, he admitted to consuming alcohol earlier and smoking marijuana. The officer conducted a series of Field Sobriety Tests and determined that Braider was under the combined influence of alcohol and drugs and unable to operate the vehicle in a safe manner.

Braider was placed under arrest for driving while under the influence, violation of probation from a prior driving under the influence and driving on a suspended license. Braider was transported to the Hill Road Correctional Facility where bail was set at $5,000.

The Lakeport Police Department is dedicated to keeping its citizen’s safe by apprehending impaired motorists and encourages members of the community to report intoxicated drivers.
