A man who ran a red light while under the influence caused a fatal accident that has claimed the life of a 22-year-old St. Petersburg woman, Doneisha Bowens, Sunday.

Anthony Scott Brown, 49, has been charged with DUI Manslaughter after St. Petersburg Police arrested the man as he attempted to flee the scene.

A SPPD officer had a short struggle with Brown but was able to subdue the suspect.

Brown’s Chevrolet truck collided with a 2001 Toyota after he ran the red light at the intersection of 5th Avenue South and 34th Street South. Bowens was a passenger in the vehicle.

Bowens and the driver of the Toyota, Andrew Mitchell, 26, were transported to Bayfront Health St. Petersburg. Bowens later died at ….MORE
