With Cobb Police in pursuit, he ran a stop sign and later rammed his truck into a patrol car, causing $3,000 worth of damage. An open can of cold Bud Ice was found in the truck. Jurors acquitted him of aggravated assault on a peace officer.

“It’s a miracle nobody died that night on Austell Road,” ADA Shep Orlow said during the sentencing hearing Thursday morning. “It is clear, throughout his history, he has shown nothing but contempt for law enforcement.”

Cobb Superior Court Chief Judge Adele Grubbs sentenced Mr. Williams to 10 years, with five years to serve in prison and the rest on probation. He was also fined $1,200.

Roswell attorney Linton Johnson III represented Mr. Williams, who has multiple prior arrests for various offenses in Atlanta and Cobb.

Cobb Police investigated the case. The four-day trial began Dec. 8 with jury selection.
