PETERSBURG — A Petersburg man has been charged with driving under the  influence following a Wednesday crash on Illinois 97 near Lake Petersburg that  killed a 27-year-old Decatur man, Illinois State Police said Thursday.

Charles C. Farrell, 51, was heading south on the highway about 12:30 p.m.  when his Dodge pickup crossed the centerline and struck a northbound car  head-on.

Travis C. Suter, 27, was driving the northbound car. He was taken by  helicopter to St. John’s Hospital, where he died….MORE
