Louisiana: Mario Martinez charged by Jefferson Parish Sheriff with homicide DWI for death of motorcyclist Lawrence Nasser

Jefferson Parish Sheriff Newell Normand reports, that on Saturday, April 13, 2013, at approximately 1:00pm, Traffic Fatality Investigator Jeff Navo responded to the scene of a motorcycle accident at 4th Street and Ames Boulevard in Marrero.
The driver of a Harley Davidson, identified as Lawrence Nasser, W/M, 52, was traveling eastbound on 4th Street when a pick-up truck driven by Mario Martinez, H/M, 29, of 616 West Street in Westwego, who was traveling westbound on 4th Street, turned into his path.

Nasser was transported to University Hospital where he was initially listed in critical condition.
Martinez was booked with one count each of DWI, First-Degree Vehicular Negligent Injury, Failure to Yield, No Drivers License, and Operating a Vehicle without Lawful Presence in the United States. The vehicle he was driving was a Ford F-150 registered in Texas, which he claimed belonged to a friend of a friend.
Lawrence Nasser was pronounced dead from the injuries he suffered in the accident.
Subsequently, Mario Martinez was rebooked with one count of Vehicular Homicide.
