Fernando Cruz-Ruiz charged by Vineland Police with DUI homicide. Cumberland County Jail DUI fatal 112415

VINELAND, NEW JERSEY (11/25/2015) — According to Vineland Police a Vineland man driving a pickup hit another pickup head-on and killed the other driver.

Police report that on 11/19/2015 at 6:37 PM, the Vineland Police Traffic Safety Unit investigated a fatal crash that occurred on Almond Road near Riverside Drive.

Fernando Cruz-Ruiz, 23, of Vineland, was driving a pickup truck which struck another pickup truck being driven by Christian Mayen-Huerta, 33, of Vineland.

As a result, Mayen-Huerta was killed.

Further investigation revealed, that Cruz-Ruiz had been driving under the influence.

On 11/20/2015, Cruz-Ruiz was arrested and charged with Vehicular Homicide, bail was set at $100,000.00 or 10%. In addition to the criminal charge, Cruz-Ruiz was issued summonses for Driving Under the Influence, Open Container of Alcohol, and Reckless Driving.

On 11/23/2015, Cruz-Ruiz was charged with Violating a Law Intended to Protect the Health and Safety of the Public, bail was set at $100,000.00 full cash. Cruz-Ruiz is currently being held on bail at the Cumberland County Jail.
