New York: Michael Messineo charged with death of his passenger in DWI wreck; ride with a drunk – buy a ticket to your own funeral

MONTICELLO — A Sullivan County man was arraigned Monday on manslaughter and drunken driving charges in the Town of Thompson. Michael Messineo was driving when the car drifted across the median on Route 17 and plunged down an embankment, killing his passenger.
Messineo, 58, was headed east just after 3 p.m. Monday in the Town of Thompson when, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office says, he crossed into the westbound lanes, struck a guard rail and rolled down the roughly 40-foot embankment, crushing the roof.
