MONTGOMERY, AL (11/28/2014) – The Montgomery Police Department confirms it has charged the driver of a double-fatal Thanksgiving Day crash with felony DUI, felony leaving the scene of an accident and two counts of reckless murder in connection to the deadly crash.
Marquis Coleman, 40, of Montgomery is now being held on each charge at the Montgomery County Detention Facility.
Montgomery police responded to the wreck at the intersection of Rosa Parks Avenue and West Edgemont Avenue around 1 p.m. Thursday. Authorities say Loubertha Phyfier, 78, and Marion Lewis, 62, both of Montgomery, were killed in the crash.
An initial investigation shows that Coleman’s 2007 Mazda 6 was headed south on Rosa Parks Avenue when he ran a stop sign and collided with a 2001 Infiniti I30 that was crossing the intersection east on West Edgemont Avenue. A total of four people in the Infinity were taken to an ….MORE
