06/02/2014  — Authorities said a two-vehicle collision Saturday in Limestone County killed an Athens man, leading to the arrest of the other vehicle’s driver. Harvey Glenn Moore, 73, was traveling East New Garden Road in a 1991 Pontiac sedan when he was struck by a 2002 Ford pickup truck driven by Rickey Wade Adams, 49, of Athens, according to state troopers and Limestone Coroner Mike West.

West said Moore died from blunt-force trauma at the scene — located two miles east of Elkmont, according to state troopers — and less than a half-mile from his residence. Troopers said Moore was not wearing a seat belt, and West said he was not ejected.

Troopers said Adams, of 23075 Reunion Road, was not injured.

He was arrested at the scene, charged with driving under the influence and booked into the Limestone County Jail at 8:45 p.m. Saturday. Jail records show Adams posted $1,000 bail at 10:56 a.m. Sunday. Limestone Chapel Funeral Home is handling arrangements for Moore’s family.
