Alaska State Troopers report the following DUI arrests:

Location: New Stuyahok

Case number: AK15082369 Type: DUI

On October 7th, 2015 at approximately 1840 hours, AST responded to a report of two intoxicated individuals riding an ATV. AST responded and contacted Tommy Gumlickpuk who was on his ATV and was trying to get someone to tow him because he had run out of gas. Subsequent investigation resulted in the arrest of Tommy Gumlickpuk, age 47 of New Stuyahok, for one count of Driving Under the Influence. Tommy was held at a holding cell in the VPSO Office in New Stuyahok, then was transported to the Dillingham Correctional Center for remand.

On 08/27/2015 at approximately 0953 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a report of an ATV crash in the village of Ouzinkie. Investigation revealed 34 y/o John Alpiak was operating the ATV while under the influence of alcohol. The charge of Driving Under the Influence has been forwarded to the District Attorney for review against Alpiak.

Type: DUI-Drugs, MICS 4, MICS 5

On 10/6/15 at approximately 0930 hours, AST received a report of a male behaving erratically in a pickup truck in a gas station parking lot near Vine Rd. and the Parks Hwy. AST responded and contacted the driver, Donald Turner, 35 of Wasilla. Investigation revealed Turner was operating his vehicle while under the influence of an impairing substance. A search of the vehicle revealed multiple items of paraphernalia, marijuana, prescription pills, and heroin. Turner was arrested for DUI, Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fourth Degree and Misconduct Involving a Controlled Substance in the Fifth Degree. He was transported to Mat-Su Pretrial where he was remanded into custody with bail set at $1,000.

Type: DUI, Refusal, Misconduct involving weapons

On 10/05/2015 Alaska State Troopers contacted Dale Herrick, 52 of Nikiski, on a traffic stop near mile 88.5 of the Seward Highway following a REDDI report. Investigation revealed Herrick to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of a firearm. Additionally, Herrick refused to submit to a chemical breath test as required under Alaska law. Herrick was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $5000 bond.

Type: DUI – Drugs

Text: On 10/04/2015 at about 2256 hours, Alaska State Troopers contacted Casey Zharoff, 25 of Homer, in a vehicle near mile 102 of the Seward Highway. Zharoff was found to be operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs. Zharoff was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $250 bond.

On 10/03/2015 at about 0003 hours, Alaska State Troopers received a REDDI report regarding an intoxicated driver travelling southbound on the Seward Highway in Bird Creek. Troopers responded and located the vehicle at mile 99 of the Seward Highway. The driver, Kathryn Alderfer, 30 of Bird Creek, was found to be under the influence of alcohol. Alderfer was arrested and remanded at the Anchorage Jail in lieu of $250 bond.

Type: DUI, REFUSAL

On 10/6/15 at approximately 0053 hours AST conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane of travel while driving on North Miller Lp near Island Lake in Nikiski. The driver was identified as Kathleen Garland, age 55, of Florida. The investigation revealed Garland to be driving under the influence of alcohol; she also refused to provide a breath sample. Garland was placed under arrest and remanded to WWPT under the charges of DUI and refusal to submit to a chemical test, with $1000 set as bail.
