Florida: Andres Esteban Toro charged with DUI manslaughter in fatal crash

04/30/2014 — The alleged driver of a speeding $400,000 Lamborghini that slammed into an SUV on the MacArthur Causeway in Miami Beach killing his passenger is facing additional DUI charges in the fatal crash, police said Wednesday.

Andres Esteban Toro, 53, is now facing one count of DUI manslaughter and one count of DUI causing serious bodily injury, in addition to a previous charge of vehicular homicide, Miami Beach Police said Wednesday.

The charges were added after toxicology reports showed Toro had a .173 blood alcohol level at 4:53 a.m., more than two hours after the fatal April 24 crash, which occurred around 2:50 a.m., police said. A second sample, taken at 7:20 a.m., showed Toro had a .132 blood alcohol level, police said. The legal limit in Florida is .08.
